Artificial Intelligence Methods for Enhancing Trustworthiness in Mobile Networks (IGEL-AI)
IGEL-AI takes a cross-layer security approach for future 6G mobile networks. This approach takes into account individual network layers and their interactions in order to develop an optimized overall security concept.
Methods for (group) key exchange are being developed that utilize channel properties to derive secret keys. AI methods help improve the security and efficiency of these processes.
AI is used both to detect and defend against attacks and to generate and refine attacks in order to systematically evaluate security solutions.
AI-based test generators enable the continuous verification of specifications and related mobile communications components for security vulnerabilities. In addition, tools for network planning and optimization are being developed.
Federal Gazette of November 2, 2023 | The aim of this funding is to sustainably strengthen research, expertise, and value creation in the field of IT security in Germany and to advance solutions for the secure use of AI technologies.
Research expertise at the intersection of IT security and artificial intelligence is to be expanded, and its transfer into practice accelerated. Through collaboration between companies and research institutions, the existing know-how from Germany’s comparatively well-positioned IT security research is to be transferred to implementation partners in industry and put into practical applications.
